FEAR of failure…it is the immobilizer that unfortunately holds so many people away from the very things they most desire in life. Their dreams are so precious that they never take action towards them, for fear of “playing full out” not knowing what the results may be, they choose the known and less desired path because it is, in fact, less scary in the moment than the path of discomfort, possible failure and not knowing. It is for this very reason it is crucial to begin to view failure itself in a new light, a positive one. For every failure is a an opportunity to learn and grow, a lesson, a stepping stone towards those goals and dreams we all carry.
If our fears act to paralyze us from action, they have won and we have lost. If we can look to our fears, acknowledge them, and then move forward anyway – this is courage and this is the very thing winners are made of. The only difference between a winner and a loser is the winner chose to get back up – success it a choice.
The great Denis Waitley – business and motivational coach and best selling international author – has said failure is actually the “fertilizer of success”. You are not your failures, a failure is simply an event that occurs in one’s life. Do not identify with your failure as if it were you the person. The key here is to use our failures as lessons to grow and learn from, and in doing so, the very failures that we once feared become the stepping stones to our outrageous success.
It is not, after all, the number of times a person falls that make them a winner, it’s the number of times they get back up.
Are you willing to fail if it means being able to realize your dreams?
